Be Not Ashamed

Be not of the world but of God he has decreed,
Keep ourselves unchained by the world we read.
When the world points at you point your heart to him,
Never let your light and fire of covenant grow dim.

Find only in him the Holy One, truth undeviating divine,
Wherein he said “If ye are not one, ye are not mine”.
When virtual fingers of scorn mar your view,
And those that stand with God are but few.

And you begin to think beyond your belief,
Remember to seek in him divine relief.
First and foremost, doubt your doubts,
Giving no heed to the throngs’ loud shouts.

Hold fast and firm with both hands to the rod,
Completely enshrouded with the gospel be shod.
Remember who you are and do not give heed,
For in the garden from each pore he did bleed.

For what can be worse than the finger of scorn?
The misery that never dies because of the praise forlorn.
Think not on popularity in the world you may gain,
Stand fast in Christ and know he bore your pain.

For only one had to truly bear the shame of it all,
To truly redeem all mankind from the fall.
He did so in Gethsemane, the cross and Grave,
For us now and then his love he truly gave.

Nothing can compare to his love and grace,
Think of him now and seek to behold his face.
The finger of scorn and shame can only outward point,
While three fingers always face inward at the joint.

For fighting against the Lord brings endless shame,
And we know we have no one but ourselves to blame.
For Christ his Holy son did show us the way,
Where we can return and in eternity stay.
