The Good Samaritan

In our everyday lives we are beaten down by the temptations of sin,
Robbed of our peace when we fail to heed the promptings from within.
We are wounded by the words and actions of others with whom we deal.
Our hearts are broken when we wound his spirit and cease to feel.

We sometimes feel abandoned, and that life may never be as sweet,
Difficult it becomes to stand, get off our knees and move our feet.
Our road to Jericho has too many obstacles and people who would us rob,
As followers of Christ, we must face down a myriad of the earth’s many a mob.

The road is filled with grief, sorrow, and pain as we navigate through life,
The anguish of our souls cries out for relief from pain and from strife.
At times we feel all alone, wounded, beat down and filled with pain.
Our daily grind causes us to forget that a healing balm does remain.

The Savior is the good Samaritan who arrives just when we need him most,
He does not pass us by nor look the other way, he never leaves his post.
He binds our wounds, pours healing oil, he knows how to heal us best,
He then lifts us up and carries us into his sacred place of peace and rest.

He does not leave us unto ourselves to pay the ransomed debt,
No, he returns as often as he is needed and pays for our relief yet,
He never leaves us alone, wounded, dying under the weight of sin.
He is our Salvation, Savior and Redeemer whom our souls did win.
