The Good Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd in whom I long to trust,
He leads me to green pastures, his judgements are just.
He leads me to drink the still waters and quenches my thirst,
Even when I feel alone and lost… and failing at my worst.

The Lord is my shepherd that restores my soul from the depths,
If I will but heed his voice and follow closely in his steps.
His paths lead me into righteousness, when I take upon me his name,
Never giving heed to the throngs who point the finger of shame.

The Lord is my Shepherd who leads me in my darkest hours,
Who confidently inspires and shares with me his powers.
Thy rod and staff comfort me beyond my earthly will,
When I put my trust in thee and cause my heart to be still.

He is the Good Shepherd that anoints my head with oil to heal,
When I humble myself before him and in his presence kneel.
My cup of gratitude runs over when I realize what he has done,
His goodness and mercy are always with me, a gift from the Holy one.

He is the Good Shepherd that has prepared a place for me,
Within his house I will forever dwell, his death and life set me free.
His footsteps I will forever follow, his name reverently I bear,
He’ll lead and guide me to his home his mansions to prepare.
