What are the bridges of life I ponder?
As through this mortal realm I wander.
Every day bridges we find
Building expanses to broaden our mind.
What can bridge the gap from here to there,
To pastures green with flowers so fair?
The call of immortality,
That only comes from deity.
How may we cross-impassable streams,
To the distant land made of dreams?
By building bridges only we can see
A pathway that leads to eternity.
What expanse that man can think to cross,
Can be bridged without human loss?
None can be, I plainly see
For man has his own free agency.
Where can we draw from heavens light,
To build clearly through the night?
With the scriptures as my guide
I’ll build the bridges as I’m tried.
Who can build a bridge for all,
And heed the cry and hear the call?
Only the Savior of mankind
Can bridge the chasm of the mind.
