Building my foundation, a lengthy lifelong pursuit,
Seeking to plant and yield life’s eternal fruit.
To follow the Savior whose foundation is sure,
Can lead me by still waters running clean and pure.
The Rock of my Salvation my Chief Cornerstone,
Has clearly marked the path the way he has shown.
No earthly architect can shore up the sands unsure,
Only Christ the Lord himself the Rock which is sure.
I seek to find his shield and staff to weather any storm,
To anchor my life on the one true Rock he did form.
The Rock of my Salvation, in him I will put my trust,
Not in things that canker or in time turn to rust.
He is the source of truth and light dispelling the darkest day,
Only with his sure foundation can we find in him our way.
He is the lamp that lights the way, bringing dawns new light,
The Holy Son, shield and fortress brings me through the night.
He is my sure foundation, the anchor and author of my soul,
He is the Architect, the Master Builder who painfully paid the toll.
Upon the Rock of our Redeemer, I will build my foundation strong,
Whereupon if men build, they cannot fall and tumble down headlong.
My foundation is constructed with the hands and feet of Christ,
Who worked out my salvation and with his life paid the price.
Each precious stone he laid and sealed with the blood he freely gave,
That his foundation gives me new life so that I won’t remain a slave.
So, build your foundation on Christ the Lord and yield no more to sin,
He saves and shields us from winds and rain, our very souls he did win.
Now build upon that sure and true foundation stairs that will lead,
You back into his presence, yes, follow him in both word and deed.
