In our journey of life here on earth
We find a myriad of choices to make,
True we find that obstacles clear or obscure,
Make good or bad the journey we take.
Every day we have choices to make,
Deciding our path as we face each one.
Will I decide the high road to take?
Or find myself saying, “I can’t see the sun!”
Choices that bind, remove or hinder,
My resolve to follow the holy one,
Exalted or debased by the choices I make,
He bound me to heaven, my heart he won.
Why is it sometimes so hard to understand?
The choices I make and where they lead?
The journey’s path is both narrow yet straight,
Making good choices I see how I am freed.
So, if the path is both narrow and straight…
Then why do I wonder from gate to gate?
Searching for peace on trails of despair
Walking alone, having taken the bait.
Choices it seems are like roads to freedom,
Fraught with challenges, roadblocks and pain
Choices can bring either happiness or grief,
Making us clean or causing a horrible stain.
Every day we must choose to be found worthy,
To be called his daughter or son.
In turn he will bind our hearts forever,
As we learn to be like the Holy One.
