Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity
Or allows you to drink from the waters of affliction,
Knowing his plan will provide the physical strength,
As well as the waters of life to quench any addiction.
The adversity we may face may at times seem to be,
Insurmountable and overwhelming without an end.
The bounds of our personal affliction may be pushed,
Beyond the boundaries mark we mortally set to bend.
Whether you drink from the goblet of goodness,
Or the dregs of desolation, adversity is essential.
Growth and endurance to the end of our lives,
Helps us in the end finally reach out potential.
Yet within our own understanding we can know for sure,
That the Lord will with the challenge provide an escape.
Bending to his will during times of adversity and affliction,
Can more appropriately cause our very souls to shape.
Yielding our will to learn what he would have us to know,
To find in him our solace and our eternal aim.
Drinking deeply the waters he for us each provides,
Eating the bread of adversity knowing he knows our name.
