Within the realm of darkness, I often feel for his hand,
Seeking to uplift me as I plead and then demand.
To find my path back to the safety of his home,
As yet, I seek to wander more wherever I may roam.
I often remember the feeling of his hand in mine,
The prints of the nails in my hand made me feel divine.
As I chose to ignore his spirit plead to follow him,
I find myself alone by choice my light within grows dim.
And yet, I feel his hand reach forth once again to lift me,
Up from the darkest chasms where I have chosen to be.
He has never forsaken me for good, or left me alone,
Nor offered me a meal of sticks or yet alone a stone.
Despite my seemingly never-ending choice to ignore,
His hands imprinted with the sins and pains he bore.
I’ve never yet been truly left alone without his grace,
To lift me up from where I don’t belong to another place.
All he asks is that I never give in and never give up,
never feel I am alone to embrace the bitter cup.
For through it all his hands are stretched out still
If I will but remember who I am and follow his will.
I must press forward, be always pressing forward,
Never looking behind me, never seeking backward.
His peace, love, and atonement shall I ever embrace,
As I grasp firmly to his words and seek for his grace.
Never letting go to wander in the darkness in fear,
Reaching for his hands I’ll know that he is ever near.
Choosing to hold firmly with both hands on his word,
I shall be pressing forward, his voice shall be heard.
I will not listen nor give heed to the voices of the earth,
That shout aloud amidst the throng, ‘my faith has no worth’.
I resolve this moment to live and love his word each day,
To always follow him and try never to lose my way.
He reaches out daily with his hands he does care,
And sends his holy spirit daily, always willing to share.
Just remember who you are a daughter or son,
His precious gift he freely gave for he is the Holy One.
So, promise to every day press forward and not give in,
He paid the price with his precious blood for all of us do sin.
But the precious price he willingly paid for you and for me,
Made it so we could live with him for all eternity.
