When the challenges of life seem us to overwhelm,
And Christ our Savior simply would be our helm.
His call to serve him and walk with him each day,
Allows us to abide with him as we walk in his way.
His call to walk with him and find his peace each day,
To abide with him and even in adversity truly stay.
To gain the sword and shield he has for us provided,
Never against our house will he ever be divided.
Our choice to walk in his light, abiding his love divine,
Provides illumination of the path as we let his light shine.
Our countenance will show if within us he does abide,
Or if we simply walk away and his counsels seek to hide.
Abiding in Christ will increase our desire to daily walk,
In his light divine I’ll bask as I listen and not just talk.
His love and doctrine will then distill upon my soul,
As I learn to vanquish my pride and gain self-control.
