Mercy

There is a law given, and a punishment affixed, and repentance granted,
The seeds of justice and mercy within our souls were deeply planted.
With each of us remains the seeds of divine sonship planted long ago,
When we demanded justice and yet pleaded for the mercy he did know.

The law demanded punishment when broken, time was ceded to repent,
Repentance could not come unto man except there was a punishment.
Which brings a remorse of conscience allowing us to return again home,
Justice exerciseth all his demands, mercy claimeth all which is her own.

Mercy comes because of the atonement, which the resurrection gives,
The plan of mercy could not happen without Christ in whom power lives.
By mercy and grace our iniquity is purged and sin is wholly abolished,
Providing the means for God to forgive and cleanse our souls to polish.

Repentance mercy claimeth, and mercy claimeth the penitent in prayer,
To gain his presence, mercy must satisfy the demands of justice there.
Through the merits and mercy and grace of Jesus Christ our liberator,
We’ll sing the songs of atoning mercy and redeeming grace forever more.
