Open My Heart

As I take the holy Sacrament, open dear Lord my heart,
Help me repent and cleanse with thy blood my inner part.
Heal me as I take the bread an emblem of thy torn flesh,
Make me whole, bind up my wounds, my resolve refresh.

Take my heart from its current state, hardened and closed,
Give me a new heart that is open to thy word fully exposed.
Please mend my soul to become one with thee, as I partake,
Remembering thy suffering heart as covenants I freely make.

Hold me in thy proffered and holy hands as I yield my heart,
Bind my wounds and heal my soul as his message I take part.
As I drink the water clear, may my heart be cleansed in thee,
My Savior and my Redeemer thou hast from sin made me free.

May my heart be open still, until that day I finally will greet,
My Savior with his open arms as with tears I wash his feet.
I pray and plead that day will come, when I behold his face,
Relying fully upon his tender mercy as I embrace his grace.
