When my daily dose of medicine tastes bitter to the taste,
When pain and suffering cause prayers to be made in haste,
When sickness or disease ravishes my body beyond my will,
I will turn my heart and send my prayers to the Father still.
When sorrow fills my bitter cup and I would shrink from all,
When earth’s foundation shakes from sin I will heed his call,
When daily bread is wanting and thirst and hunger fills my soul,
I will turn my heart to Him as manna once again fills my bowl.
When my aches and pains consume my thoughts each night,
When walking on into the dark and praying for dawns new light,
When seeking for retribution for a wrong and finding no relief,
I will turn my heart to Him and strengthen my resolve in belief.
When tears flow freely from my eyes and draw my last resolve,
When the challenging puzzle that is life, seems I will never solve,
When through the fog obscuring my view I will move forward still,
I will turn my heart to Him and give all I have, I will give him my will.
