The challenges of our time here on earth are but a proving ground,
Mixed with times of love, tears, trials and pain we may be found.
During the trying times of our lives, it often seems we are alone,
Yet the refining fire of affliction will make His peace to be known.
During hard times when we feel all alone the Savior walks near,
If we will yoke ourselves to the Holy one, He will caress our fear.
Being equally yoked in this life will provide a Savior and a guide,
Who daily walks the tear-filled road hand in hand by our side.
This proving ground provides the stone foundation of our road,
As the Lord takes on Him pains and grief and carries our load.
Our crosses we bear are lightened each day by load He bore,
He carried His cross to pave the way to live with Him once more.
Walking each day with faith and trust in Him will one day bring,
The proving ground to a close, yes, He will bring our day of spring,
As we awake to a brand new eternal life after this life is complete,
We will knowingly praise His Holy name as we kneel at His feet.
