Weakness

The Lord has said he will help me overcome my weaknesses,
I try and fail over and over again… when I try to resolve on my own.
Until I realize that his grace and love cannot penetrate my heart,
Unless I trust in him, and have faith in him, then my effort is known.

The Lord has said he will guide me through my weaknesses,
I try and fail over and over again… when I fail to fall to my knees.
Until I remember that the effort he requires is to humble myself,
Have faith in him, and trust in his redeeming love to please.

The Lord has said he will provide grace and faith to overcome all,
I try and fail over and over again… when I rely on the arm of flesh.
Until I consider the steps that he laid along the path back to him,
Taking each critical step to align my path and my resolve refresh.

The Lord has said he will make my weaknesses into strengths,
I think I have tried and failed over and over again…, but yet…
Until I reflect on the path I have followed both ups and downs,
His promises I realize have from day to day been fully met.
