Remember Him

When the trials of life weigh me down, I will gladly remember him.
When the covering of darkness mars my view, his light will not go dim.
When the weight of the world comes crushing down, and life is simply hard,
He will lift my soul from despair and through the night stand guard.

When suffering and pain crash in from every side, I will remember him.
When I walk in darkness and feel all alone, he my lamp will trim.
When my burdens are beyond my own strength, he will step in,
He will lift up my head to view my cross, when I lay aside my sin.

When I wonder how much pain I can endure, I will remember him.
When he suffered bled and died for me as he hung upon that limb.
When my personal Gethsemane, drains my last resolve dry,
He will pour his anointing balm and bid my fears goodbye.

When I forget to reach my hand to his, He will remember me.
With engraved symbols in his hands shall pull me into eternity.
When at last I behold his face, more familiar he should seem,
He will lift my view from death, give me new life, my soul redeem.

When I finally endure life’s brief sojourn, him will I remember well.
When I realize he walked each day with me and lifted each time I fell.
When I kneel humbly before him and wipe his feet with my tears,
He will lift me once again; wipe clean the slate and silence all my fears.

I will remember him when each Sabbath his emblems I embrace.
A symbol of his precious blood he freely gave, does my sins erase.
His life and body pierced and freely given helps me remember him.
As I sing his praise in anthems divine, in adorations eternal hymn.

May I always find in him my one true source of light and truth.
May I always seek to know his will and follow him as Naomi did Ruth.
May I always remember his tender love, perfect mercy, and amazing grace.
May I always follow the straight and narrow to one day behold his face.

He has called my name above the loudness of the world I walk,
His bowels are filled with mercy each time I kneel and knock.
His perpetual door is always open if I will but seek his grace,
He will always hear my prayer and remove my sins without a trace.

He will change our very natures as we trust in him during the trying hour,
He will change our hearts with the atonement and will us empower.
He will strengthen our resolve to follow him with all our heart and mind,
Remember him, keep the faith, then his love and mercy we will find.

  1. Such a psalm of hope and peace. Thank you my friend. I pray the same for us all as we navigate this journey called “life” with all of its twists and unexpected turns. I’m grateful to know men such as yourself who exemplify the master himself in their resolve to always strive to do the will of the Lord and when we fall short, to have enough conviction to know that the Savior’s grace reaches much farther than any shortcoming we may exhibit. My prayers are with you.
