Becoming One in Christ

The Savior’s ultimate sacrifice paid the price for me,
Through his atoning blood eternal lives can now be.
Becoming one in Christ I simply must wholly see,
That his pain and suffering in the garden were for me.

To take upon himself all our sins, to suffer in agony,
Binding and sealing each of us to him for all eternity.
No greater love was ever shown, his promise endured,
That he would bridge the gap his atonement ensured.

How can I expect to someday become like the Savior,
If I only seek for pleasure and wish for nothing more?
Seeking my own, wishing never to suffer as he did,
Hiding my face in shame, though the Savior never hid.

Becoming one in Christ means to suffer and never hide,
To follow him through good and bad, burying my pride.
Seeking his will both night and day, following his way,
Then his face I’ll one day see and in his presence stay.
