Each day I walk the path of life, I choose if I will walk alone.
My burdens I carry though hidden inside, to God are known.
Laying aside my burdens by choice and taking up His cross,
He provides relief from the load I carry of troubles in my loss.
Choosing to carry the load alone when relief can be found,
Taking His yoke provides the relief to choose to be bound.
Stepping into His path provides a companion and a guide,
Who walks hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder by my side.
Pulling the load in selfish mode never can relief provide,
Choosing instead to walk the road to Emmaus by His side.
Finding His peace and lightening my load, in Him I abide,
Brings the relief sought by His hands, we are not denied.
Giving Him permission each day to lighten my load will be,
The measure of gratitude He asks, to carry my load for me.
Truly He chose to walk the painful road as He paid my cost,
Take His yoke, He offers it freely, no time with Him is lost.
